Live painting in Paris
14 October 14
Earlier this month I was in Paris for a couple of days for the launch of my latest collaboration with iBlues. It's the second season they've made my illustrations into cute clothes and this time they went for a kind of streetstyle-sporty-luxe vibe. Which most importantly meant: sweatshirts. I love a sweatshirt. The one I'm wearing above - repping all the countries where iBlues has stores - is my fave. It's made out of this cool futuristic fabric and the print looks ace. I was so impressed with the quality of the fabrics and printing of everything, they did the most beautiful job.
So for the launch, the super fancy store (which is in the Passy area, just over the river from the Eiffel Tower) threw a special event with My Little Paris and invited lots of people to check out the collection and get their portrait drawn by me. There were custom cocktails (an iAtomic among others!), amazing little snacks, a dj and a backdrop with my print and illustrated props for people to pose with. I was totally overwhelmed by how much trouble everyone went to. I spent the whole evening drawing french babes which was really fun and WAY educational (what I've learned is that if you're doing live drawing you've got to be FAST). Thank god for brush pens! It was really interesting to chat to the girls while I drew them, especially as illustration is normally such a solitary pursuit. The passing trays of canapés were also a big help, drawing at home without scallops wrapped in bacon just isn't the same.
Thank you so much iBlues and My Little Paris, I had a blast!
Thanks Andrew for the photos!

That seems like it would be loads of fun! I mean, once I got over the nerves of having people watch me draw. I love your portraits, and the sweatshirt is really cute too. It does look like it’s made from some futuristic fabric, much fancier than any sweatshirts I own! :)

Thanks Mary! I was quite nervous too, but once I was painting away I didn’t have time to overthink it luckily. x

I’m so excited to see you blogging regularly again. Live drawing must be proper stressful, so those canapés were probably a life-saver for boosting your energy levels! The portraits all look so cute and effortless, as does the collection, well done lady! x

OMG Kris, these are GORGEOUS!! I can’t even imagine how nervous this would have been – but it looks like you were in your element! It must be so exciting to see your work as a real, physical item that people are now wearing. Congratulations!
(also, I was about to ask where I could be Kris-Atomic-ed, and you provided the link above – I shall be saving and getting a good photo of me done so I can get my own portrait!)
Sorry this comes off as a massive fangirl post, but I don’t even care, I love your work!

Thank you, that’s too kind! The lipstick is MAC “Charmed I’m sure” and the nail varnish is Tom Ford Carnal Red I think? x
