As a former fashion blogger who works for a company that sends a small group to NYFW every year, but has never been herself, I really loved this post, Kris. Not only are the images gorgeous, but they also convey a sense of atmosphere that I don’t get from a lot of other, more plasticky fashion photography. Thanks for sharing.
Beautifully taken! I like the different spin too, you always get the feeling it’s all srs bsns, which is interesting of course, but it’s nice to see behind the glossy façade for once.
It’s a wonder anybody gets any decent shots at all! You should definitely be proud of those skillz. :) Thanks for making me smile this morning! I especially love the long exposure shots showing the madness.
I love the actual ones more but it shows how talented you have to be to be able to spot the moments in the first section within the hustle and madness that seems to happen around you :)
This is great, I have been thinking a lot about this lately (seeing pictures of conflict and then 1000s of press photographers around that conflict, for example…). Your example is just perfect.
I love this post! Of course, we all know that most of those fashion week photos are staged and don’t tell the whole story, but to get a glimpse behind the curtain, to see all the non-fashion people hanging around wearing jeans or whatever, is brilliant. I always love your photographs! :)
Not exactly related to the post, but I added the photo of the girl with the beautiful jungle-inspired print dress (second to last in the first set of photos) onto my Pinterest with your name and a link back to the post. I hope that’s okay with you! I just love the whole shot and that dress is gorgeous.
As I attended a few shows in NYC this year, the best description I heard for NYFW is that it is a shit show. Thanks for showing us that – you don’t see it in a lot of photos!
