Kinda looks like "American Apparel Mermaid" actually

08 June 11

Inspired by discussion of mermaids as the next Young Adult lit trend on twitter today, thought I'd give drawing one a go. And then this image just popped in to my head and cracked me up.

haha very nice! Also, what cracked me up, was your “kinda looks like an American Apparel Mermaid,” considering you labeled your illustration the unusually modest mermaid. ;)

This is so ORIGINAL! I have never seen such a concept before.

I couldn’t imagine vampires becoming so big, but I shall have to see this mermaid trend to believe it.

Love her! Please make this a print.

I agree on the “please make a print” idea. My daughter has a mermaid room. When looking for “mermaid” art however, we always have a problem though as most is too revealing. I had to have the only piece in the room commissioned on Etsy by a really nice, understanding woman because she doesn’t like them so immodest. I showed this to her (she’s 10), and she was like… “Yeah, right on!” :) So email me if you ever make a print or want to sell that! Too cute!

I’m dying for you to make this into a book for young girls to let them know that it’s OK to be modest – even if it’s a little unusual.
