Baked goods
19 May 10
As a fairly incompetent cook, there is nothing I like more than looking at the culinary efforts of others (my number one is obviously Luxirare, I just sit there scrolling with my mouth hanging open...). These drool-worthy cakes and biscuits/cookies are by i am baker and you can see way more photos and recipes at her blog. I'm also enjoying the Pretty Foods tumblr for similar foodie fun daily.

Oh that is just amazing…. wish I could do that! Thanks for the blog-tips!

I think it’s creepy how you just posted all of her pictures here without really saying anything. Do you obtain permission from this blogger to copy all of her work? I think that is the most respectful way to go about things.

Hi Karen. Not really sure what you mean seeing as I specifically pointed out that everything is by i am baker and linked to her blog twice… How is that creepy?! I don’t post without linking back to the original source EVER, that’s pretty standard blog etiquette and not what I would describe copying!

I wouldn’t appreciate coming across your blog and finding my work splashed all over it without being asked first. It’s a courtesy. And you didn’t link to Amanda when I was first here – you added that afterwards, when I called you on it.
I’m just saying that it would have been better for you to have asked her first.

Ok, now you’re just lying and I’m getting kind of annoyed. The entry was posted exactly how it appears now, I haven’t added anything afterwards.
Since it’s not your work that is being discussed, I don’t know why you have such an issue with the way I use my blog. The blogger in question doesn’t have a problem and no-one else has EVER said that they didn’t wish their work to be featured (if they did, of course I would take it down immediately!). As I link back to their site/blog, the entry would would show up in their stats, so I’m certainly not hiding anything.
It’s not always possible to contact everyone before every single post, I certainly don’t expect people to contact me if they are going to post my work. As long as everything is credited and attributed, it’s fair in my opinion.
Do feel free to post your blog link so I can be sure to avoid splashing it all over my blog in the future!

Are you KIDDING? There are sososososo many other blogs out there infinitely more deserving of this sort of criticism. I have never once not understood where the images Kris posted came from, and I have discovered many amazing photographers and artists through her inspiration posts. Honestly, you’re wasting time with this petty BS.

All this criticism is ridiculous. Post your own crap on your own site and be glad we don’t visit your site. This blogger posts it the same as anyone else, by LINKING BACK to another blogger’s post—exactly as was done here. I agree with Una, good riddance! By the way, these posts are amazing!

haha, but that’s how kris ‘blogs’ – entry upon entry of other people’s stuff. yeah yeah they’re linked but most of the content on this site is stolen!
Nina replied over 13 years ago.

Sorry you feel that way Nina. I post tons of my own work, but I also like to share the work of amazing artists/photographers/whatever that I’ve come across. Promoting the work of other artists or bloggers isn’t stealing :) Most people seem to like it!

Asking the blogger/baker first is a MUST in my book. When I first saw this entry it looked as though the blog owner was trying to pass it off as her own. The link to I Am Baker came AFTERWARDS.
Not cool. I won’t be back.

speaking about posting without permission, i ran across a picture of yours in this fashion blog and found no mention or link whatsoever to you or your site. considering this site has acquired a reputation (it was featured in vogue france recently), i really think it’s piss poor behavior. i tried leaving a note about that, but was quite soundly ignored… honestly, some people!

This is amazing, I love pretty food! Just wanted to say that I really don’t get the criticism you got earlier in the comments, I love coming to this blog, first of all because your work is amazing (can’t believe how much work goes in to digital illustration, I’m impressed!) but second of all because you fill this blog with so much pretty and inspiring stuff from others! So keep doing what you’re doing, your blog always makes me happy.
And also, I’m not sure if I’ve commented this before – your final/graduating work you did a while ago, the embroidered sweater, is so so so good. I love it.

As a foodie AND a geek, I gotta say, those mushroom cookies are beyond perfection. It’s unreal how… PERFECT… all of these look. I love to cook and bake but I’ve never had much patience for that kind of detail!
Also, regarding the comments about “stealing content,” I was completely baffled by them. First of all, I love reading blogs to see life through the writer’s eyes/art, but I also love discovering new things from them. I’m a bit of a e-hermit, so if it weren’t for these rabid content stealers out there, I wouldn’t know about half the brilliant people in this world!
Secondly, as a blogger/artist myself, I know how hard it can be to gain new readership or just put yourself out there. It’s always a great honor when someone decides to blog about my work— it’s like insta-publicity and a confidence boost put into one! I could understand why someone might feel differently, but I also expect that feelings to the contrary in the blogosphere are the minority.
And lastly, Kris has always linked back to original sources— both the artists and where she found them— she’s beyond scrupulous when it comes to making sure she credits properly. And if she can’t find the source, she says so and apologizes… Why would she start doing otherwise now? Especially on a post about baking, when she has mentioned time and again what a tornado she is in the kitchen! ;)

I get the impression that the trolls from earlier are actually just one person who doesn’t like you and is trying to give you a hard time. Talk about being illogical and irrational; there is absolutely nothing wrong with posting images from other people as long as they’re credited. It comes across like this person has never been on the internet before, particularly tumblr or a number of inspiration blogs by people who do not ever bother to credit. With the way the internet works some credit and a link back is the best that people can hope for. Being featured by other bloggers (with credit) is a great way for people to learn about your work/photography/art etc and I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t be happy to be posted about. Bloggers in particular are trying to get their name out there so the offense taken here really doesn’t make any sense to me. One thing that separates your ‘inspiration’ posts from that of others for me is that you aren’t re-posting the same editorials and images as every fashion blog I look at. I’ve discovered some very awesome creative people from reading your blog and I appreciate that you wanted to share them.

Oh I am very much fascinated by these treats…truly, I would be scared to take a bite, they’re all so well done and pretty!
And as for all this nonsense about ‘linking’ that was so irrelevent in the first place, I love the blog as it is: the showings of your work with some appreciation and promotion of others’ (it helps me find new places to search and roam for random artistries…like cute little food recipes!).
