"I want to go to there"

Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany by Luiz Pires

There are so many places I want to see, I've been browsing and bookmarking and basically putting together travel porn (oh dear, that phrase isn't going to be good for my blog search results is it). I'm going to Nice in may and maybe Davos in the summer, so that should satisfy me for the year. If I had unlimited funds I'd do a leisurely Trans Siberian Railway route through Russia and then travel around China and Japan. Where would you go?

I hope I can visit them too some day.
Maybe when I’ll be making film?

i thoroughly recommend edinburgh in springtime. its beautiful!

right now i’d really love a trip to iceland. all epic and occasionally bleak. And any of the locations used in ‘the fall’ would be pretty spectacular!

Wow, these are some inspiring photographs!
Although, I live in Edinburgh and while it is really very beautiful, I’ve never seen it look quite a great as that shot!

cait replied about 10 years ago.

Bookmarking this for my own future reference! Was going to pick my favourites, but I think I would love to go to all of them too.

I’d really like to go to Cambodia to the city my mum lived in before the war happened. I can’t remember which city it was now, but I remember her pointing out all the places she used to go to as a child on the Google maps satellite view which was a really cool thing to be able to see.

Kim replied about 10 years ago.

Really, really, really want to make it to Nepal someday— preferrably soon! I also can’t wait to visit Africa, though I can never decide which part I’d want to visit— probably West. And I’d love it if it was reasonable within my lifetime to visit Iran, as I hear it’s absolutely gorgeous.

Of course, thinking about traveling the world always makes me feel guilty that I’ve barely even touched my own country. I’d definitely like to get more familiar with the U.S. someday, too.

Kim replied about 10 years ago.

I’ve actually been to Neuschwanstein Castle, and it was one of the most magical experiences of my life.

Tip: Take the horse & buggy up the mountain, the steep incline and long walk is no fun.

You should SO! come to Iceland. I’ll happily be your tour-guide :o)

Ina replied about 10 years ago.

Ah! As a Norwegian I am pleased to see you’ve added Norway to the list. Honningsvåg is really beautiful. I do agree with all the other destinations aswell, and I can confirm that Iceland is beautiful. I loved it there.

Right now my dream place would be the Shetland Islands, it looks so magical there.

sarah replied about 10 years ago.

Such jaw-droppingly amazing photos/locations! There are so many places I have yet to see, that I’m dying to go to: Greek Islands, Budapest, Morocco, Maldives, the Amazon, Machu Picchu, ah the list is endless…

I will so meet you in Edinburgh (I’ve been and it was so amazing, I dream of going back to spend more time there before anywhere else) and Greece makes my brain go all sparkly inside. Your travel porn was a total kick in the butt to get the fuck out of the house more at least haha.

Jazzi M replied about 10 years ago.

iceland and greece look fantastic! im trying really hard to save my pennies so i can go on a contiki tour around europe! :)

but wow, those iceland and greece pictures just make me so sad that i dont live there!

teagan replied about 10 years ago.

wow. wowowowowow. Guess I’ll be adding Fribourg and Oia to MY travel list too. The squished groupings of houses always appeal to me.

Also, I can tell you that Neuschwanstein is amazing even when it’s not all picture-book snowy outside.

Nice collection. Santorini picture stole my heart, a-ma-zing! I keep on dreaming of exploring Polynesia and Pacific Ocean by sailing. Sigh.

Essi replied about 10 years ago.

I’ve always wanted to go to Japan and Russia, and since I can remember Egypt because I’m obsessed with the egyptians but everyone I know who has been has come back dreadfully ill. When I was younger we went to Canada but only did the cities and major touristy things, I’d like to go back and see the more rural parts.

neil replied about 10 years ago.

ooooh, I am curently studying in Edinburgh this year (i’m french) and it’s such a great and beautiful city, I don’t want to leave ! Good choice ! :)

Lou. replied about 10 years ago.

Now I’m getting that wanderlust feeling! I’ve been to the Castle in the top picture.. worth the trip, and I’ve been to Edinburgh, great city. I really want to go to Santorini big time!

Elizabeth Mackey replied about 10 years ago.

You always manage to find the most beautiful photographs. That photo of the North Coyote Buttes made me gasp, and the one of Santorini was really, really pretty. I’d really like to go to Greece, or Ireland.

LOVE the travel porn.

Recognised the Prague and Santorini photos instantly – I have slightly less impressive versions of them both. The Prague one I’m sure is taken from the castle, looking down onto the roofs (rooves?) – just out of shot is a little veranda where people always seem to be having barbeques and dancing to reggae, totally surreal in wintery Prague but an awesome place.

I’m with you on the Trans-Siberian railway, that’s something I’ve always wanted to do… sigh.

Love you blog btw – you’re v talented.

My husband and I went to Füssen to see the famous Neuschwanstein Castle. We went in the winter time and it’s absolutely breath taking. The small town of Füssen is very quaint. We would love to go back but in the Spring/Summer time. Another nice castle to see that we visited last December is Hohensalzburg Castle in Salzburg, Austria. It’s a 2 hour train ride from Munich, Germany. About the same amount of time as going to Füssen.

the sad thing about neuschwanstein is that its not finished, the outside is gorgeous and what not, at least from that side, when you get up to the main gate area the white stone switches to a reddish brick which still looks nice, but the king was going crazy and ran out of money so the brick was cheaper, and a lot of the inside remains unfinished. They tour you through rooms which again are extravagant and gorgeous but they show you about all that was ever finished.

josh replied almost 10 years ago.

Just came back from a three-week trip to Europe.

Neuschwanstein was beautiful; the long climb uphill was well worth it. It was amazing to see the structure after which the Disney castle was patterned.

Upon approaching Santorini from mainland via flying catamaran, I initially thought the mountains were snowcapped, but lo and behold, they were the white-washed houses that lined the island. Breathtaking!
