Gift ideas

05 March 10

So mother's day is coming up (March 14th in the UK) and I spent ages browsing for a sweet gift yesterday. My mum is a bit of a nightmare to buy for, she has everything and she's vegan, doesn't drink alcohol/caffeine, so food and drinks are hopeless. Tough call!
I have a million ideas for other people though (isn't that always the way), so I thought I'd share some of the nice stuff I found.

btw you're never going to see me doing a father's day edition, because buying for dads is totally impossible.

Persephone books reprint neglected books mostly written by ladies, with gorgeous covers. They even have a handy guide for presents.

Super slick teapots and cups from Bodum. You could throw in a selection of nice black/green/white teas too.

Scented candles from English Eccentrics.

Tapestry kits by Emily Peacock.

Cashmere socks are amazing, Brora are the go-to people for cashmere in general.

Baileys have lots of pretty bits for the home.

Since getting my Filofax, I've been raving about them to anyone who'll listen. It's the perfect organiser!

Beautiful personalised note cards from Rifle Paper co.

Laura Mercier body stuff. This smells incredible, it's a struggle to not eat it.

Bracelets from Plumo.

Gloves from Dents.

Painted plates by Nathalie Lete for Anthropologie.

Or you could just bake something amazing! The pictures above are from lomopony.

Some epic recipes: chocolate fudge cake, sponge cake with raspberry and mascarpone, four nut chocolate brownies, maple walnut cake, Austrian coffee and walnut cake, chocolate chip ginger nuts, chocolate dipped cherry cake and rainbow cake!!!

The best ever chocolate chip cookie recipe, classic oatmeal raisin cookies and chocolate chocolate chip cookies from Savory Sweet Life, my new favourite food blog.

If you're all sorted (lucky you) what are you buying for your mummy?

My mum and I went for a walk earlier and she was cooing over a scarf in a cute little shop on the corner of the high street called The Shop on The Corner. So tomorrow I will sneak back and buy it!

Luckily, in Poland Mother’s Day is on May 26th so I’ve got some time to think. Since I’m such a lousy gift-buyer, your suggestons may be a huge help on May 25th (always on the last moment).
Take care!

Love the scented candles and the squirrel plate. However, my mum likes World of Warcraft, vampires and rock music, so is impossible to buy for. Sometimes I wish she was a mumsy-mum so I could just walk straight to a Mother’s Day section in a store and grab anything (that’s just lazy and lacks thought, I know)

Your mum sounds like a super cool lady! Has she read the Sookie Stackhouse series? It’s the books that True Blood is based on. Might be a good one for a vampire fan!
My mum is super into karate, so I’m thinking there might be something there I can come up with… x

She’s currently reading them for the third time! (I bought myself the first three at the weekend because she keeps banging on about them and I want to understand what she’s on about haha) Maybe I can get her some True Blood/Twilight merch. Karate? That seems like an unusual interest! Good luck coming up with something for that!

Michelle replied over 13 years ago.

Ah, damn! Let me know if they’re any good, I’ve heard positive reviews and I love true blood.
Haha, I know! She started about a year ago and she’s done like 4 belts already and she’s super into it! Bless. x

I love Bodum! I can’t stop buying their things. Have you seen their Pavina glass/cups/mugs? They are genius!!

Yes, so clever! x

Those cookie recipes look amazing! Am tempted to bake me a few :) I have no idea what to get my mom! Around that time it will be a doubly exciting time for us, as it (hopefully) will be my first Mother’s day too! Love these ideas especially ‘cause mom’s bday is 2 weeks after Mother’s Day, so am always knitting my brows for twice as long, haha!

How sweet C:
I’m taking my mother to see Bon Jovi in two weeks. <3
Concert tickets make great gifts, as well.
My mom's an artist, so we take her to the art museum when there's something she's dying to see, as well.

I just love what you have here. Just everything is so sweet and pretty. Love it again.

I found a clock that would go perfectly with this, I have a URL to it here

I think it would look great with everything you’ve put together.

I think parents in general are notoriously hard to shop for, aren’t they? Mine just already buy for themselves what they really need/want. These are really great ideas – I want these presents for myself!

best photos in your collection . I am amazed by your creativity.

I’m buying her a Persephone book. Lucky me, she collects them, little presents are always easy!

First time at your blog and it’s fab. Love it! :)
