This will be our year
17 August 10
You know in fashion when trends for a season magically intersect with all the things you like and suit you and suddenly shopping is a joy rather than a drag? No, me neither. But I think my time has come! AW10 is looking to be excitingly relevant to my interests and I'm getting kind of phsyched to see all this sexy stuff filter through to the shops in the coming months. Knee lengths, calf lengths, ankle lengths! roller curls and massive beehives! all kinds of red lipstick! socks with shoes! 50s high waisted full skirts! ladylike framed handbags! things with waists at the waist! motherfucking KNITWEAR! leopard print! gloves. elbow length gloves. leather gloves. all shades of camel! pencil skirts. leather cropped trousers?!
Honestly, I think I need a lie down.
All images from a variety of august/september '10 issues of magazines via the glorious Fashion Gone Rogue.

yes. wow. you’re totally right.. I’m sick of trying on skirts, pulling up the waist to where the waist should be.. and finding I’m exposing my bum to the world. knee length rocks!

i too am incredibly excited about autumn shopping. much anticipated mad men style dresses and longer skirt lengths in particular have me longing for the end of all this silly summery tiny shorts nonsense! yeah!

Agree, agree, agree! I’ve been looking at the magazines and thinking the EXACT same thing. I love the socks trend going on right now…and fall is the best season for LEATHER LOVE so there will be a LOT of that. Gosh, this post just sums it all up. What a beautiful plethora of photos.

You had me at “all shades of camel.”
Hear frickin’ hear on the at-the-waist and knee-length skirts, too. It’s about time we were allowed to be modest AND sexy.

You just encapsulated all my excitement in that single paragraph! My reference for what a short hem is has always been like 6 inches lower than everyone else I know. Luckily being only 5’2" means things always tend to hit lower on me.

Seriously! me too, it’s like the universe finally agreed to bunch a collective of styles that actually suit me and let them loose, thank god for the longer skirts, and the leopard print, oh oh the leopard print, swoon.

I am right there with you. I have been loving all the 1950’s full skirts, high waisted dresses and pencil skirts for A/W. It;’s great because I have been collecting these styles for years so I have plenty to choose from in my closet.

I could not agree more!! Half of these photos are already in my inspiration folder, and I need to save the rest as well. Love the long, full skirts, plain cardigans, etc etc. I have not been so excited for fashion in a long time. LV really outdid themselves this season.

Ah, Kris, we are so cosmically in tune! That was exactly my reaction to this years fall collections. Fall fashion is always my favorite anyway and this year it is so laaaaaaadylike. I could melt from all the loveliness!

i know exactly how you feel. i was getting so sick and tired of fashion and everyone harping on about the 80s/90s that i just completely withdrew from it, stopped looking at blogs (they are just the WORST when it comes to that brash all black, leather, cross rings look) and reading vogue etc and just gave up. and now i’m so excited about this 60s/70s resurgence, i can’t believe fashion is actually going somewhere that i love. i actually can’t wait to buy a swishy high-waisted knee-length skirt!

I absolutely love these styles. I think that more modest clothing is very empowering for women. I can’t wait to see clothing like this on the racks, not just in sewing patterns!
By the way, I mentioned this lovely post in my blog: http://inviteluxury.com/strut-beehives-knee-length-and-garters-oh-my/

Totally delicious spread. I love seeing the styles we associate with 50s prudes on the one hand and the rebels on the other coexisting so harmoniously together! And the peacock feather gloves made getting out of bed today entirely worth it.

I love the Guess look. There ads are so 50’s cool yet contemporary glam. Plus I’ve always been a fan of their men’s shirts. Good quality most are made in Peru from Pima cotton.
