I'm working on a really elaborate commissioned illustration at the moment, so I took a break to draw something rough and sketchy to kind of cleanse my palate. Really into this colour scheme, the beige with the spring brights. I loosely based the ladies on this old photo which I'm fairly sure is from silent screen queen.

This is beautiful! I love the jumper on the left and the face/hair of the middle girl. What is this drawn with?

Love it! Such beautiful colours and perfect for spring. Colours I’m going for in at home… Reminds me of 50s catalogue illustrations, and I obviously mean that as a compliment!

i love these! i love the texture your drawings have. it’s visible on the red head. you should give us a few illustration tips because i can’t, for the life of me, figure out how you do that.

I really like the way you haven’t outlined the hair. The use of pure blocks of colour is really refreshing sometimes.

Ahh I’m really loving the direction your drawings are going in lately! The texture to the blocks of colour and the sketchyness (what a word) to the lines. Quite different to your usual finished drawing but still very much you!

I absolutely ADORE this, I love beige with spring brights as well, it suits a variety of skin tones beautifully. Ps love the tan girl with pink hair :) reminds me of our convo we had about the new JCrew catalog, whether you did that intentionally or not, I appreciate the diversity in the pic :D

Although I completely love your computer illustrations i kind of miss your hand painted ones :/
In anycase this is beautiful, and reflects the spring weather we have right now :)

I know what you mean! The aim is to make the digital stuff have the same essence as the hand painted stuff, painting just takes too long for commercial work. Not quite there yet, but that’s what I’m working on :)
thank you though! x

Really lovely! and I really like these colors too ;) it seems kind of vintage (old magazines as someone said) really like it.
I just saw on your tumblr an illustration from the “librairie ouvrir l’oeil” : how incredible, this bookshop is right under my appartment! (well, not exactly under, but I live in the same street ;) How did you know about it? it’s a really great bookshop by the way… (but I guess you already know that :)
