Making paper messes

23 January 08

Behold, my SAD lamp! I love it to bits. I am much less of a misery during these dark london days than in previous winters :)

What beautiful work! It’s amazing. I also covet your lamp!

Oh, nice! So the SAD lamp really, truly works? I’m personally a huge fan of dark days, but I have a few friends who suffer majorly from SAD and I’d love to tell them about the lamp.

My MIL just sent me a forward (something only mothers and MILs seem to do) about the “one sheet of paper contest” just a couple weeks ago. Now this! I’m so rev’ed to make some messes of my own.

I have the EXACT same SAD lamp ;)

And pretty much the same mess on my desk, but with acrylic instead of paper..heh

Vanda replied over 15 years ago.

Hehe. Your messy desk with computer and art stuff all around looks just like mine. Love the lamp too, I didn’t know they had SAD lamps, I should get one! Would make the cold, dark winter a lot happier.

I love seeing photos of different workspaces, and these are fab. I have the same coloured pens as you have in the 3rd photo – I love them. :)

Haha, I just through telling my roommate what a mess my half of the room was due to a project (a zine for our “alter ego!”), and then saw these pictures :) Mine is more in the way of acrylic paint and whole-punch circles, though.

By the way, that bird is beautiful!

Melanie replied over 15 years ago.

Where did you get your SAD lamp? I have had one for ages but it is so ugly looking!

Kimberly Lewis replied over 15 years ago.

I love workspaces. Mine is covered in sewing and knitting nonsense, which is probably slightly dangerous as people keep finding pins I’d lost. Usually, in their feet. I like the SAD lamp, I always thought I loved dark winter days but this winter I’ve just been really fed up the whole time – getting up for work when it’s dark and getting out of work when it’s dark? No thanks! I’ve thought about getting one, but I spent all my money on shoes..sigh. Love the paper cut outs. x

Lovely paper cutouts. I made a book like that the other day, it is such a satisfying medium, makes everything look beautiful! Here’s a link in case you’re curious- http://bleachingstream.blogspot.com/search/label/cut%20paper

I was wondering if you’d like to swap blog links with me, I don’t know if that’s something you do but I’m also an illustration student (at Brighton, nearly went to Camberwell!), just started my daily blog & I’ve followed your work for a long time. Jealous of that SAD lamp! x

I just wrote a post about my new IKEA lamp being named NOT and I was thinking, “Wow! Her lamp is named SAD! That’s even cooler!” But then I read the comments and know I understand…
