I saw this girl irl the other day and she had really cool style, so I had to draw her. She was wearing Buffalo platform trainers too, A+ for effort lady.

A little while ago I participated in Ten Paces and Draw, a collaborative illustration project where you do a sketch for another illustrator and finish up a sketch made for you. As someone who doesn’t really do collaborations, it was really fun and unexpectedly liberating! The week’s theme was “floral” and I got a super cute sketch from Sarah Straub, the finished version of which you can see above.
My sketch was based on this weird fairytale I came across some time ago. “My gift to you is that every time you speak either a flower or jewel will drop out of your mouth” Can you imagine? That’s supposed to be a reward? On what planet! And she managed to reel in a prince with stuff falling out of her mouth continuously, impressive stuff.
Anyway, my sketch was finished by Julia Kostreva, who did a really beautiful job. Last week I needed a sketch to play around with some textures I was working on and ended up taking my sketch to completion too, which you can see below. Circle of life, etc.
