I went to Moscow for four whole days over the weekend! I was there for a wedding and it was a very jam-packed few days, but got me very excited for my Moscow/St Petersburg trip next summer. There are some other photos on my flickr and many more to come.
Many typical Russian souvenirs were bought. I was a citizen for nine years so I’m not even a tourist! I have no excuses.
Lovely photos!
That scarf and those dolls are gorgeous – I can’t believe the detail on the dolls, especially!

Lauren – I know! they’re ridiculously detailed, especially the small ones! & thank you!
Melanie – thanks! If you get the chance, definitely take some Russian history lessons. There are some pretty… colourful events in the country’s history! Ivan The Terrible comes to mind, that old mentalist.

I was born in Odessa, Ukraine but grew up in Russia (Moscow, St Petersburg, Siberia) until I was nine. Then I moved to London with my mum, where I have remained since :)
No-one that doesn’t already know would guess I’m Russian though, I have a British accent and I’m officially a British citizen.
Thank you so much for your lovely complements!
Lil – thank you! I like all the reds of course, my favourite colour :)
annso – of course it means something! I’m mighty flattered and happy to hear that. Thank you very much. x

Hi Kris,
Just stumbled on your LJ and this journal as well. Beautiful work!
I want to ask to a question if you don’t mind being a sort of Art Agony Aunt for a few moments!
I notice that you have recently had to deal with the issue of plagiarism. I know from personal experiance at college that it isn’t pleasent to see your ideas turn up in other peoples work I haven’t ever posted anything that I have done on the internet, and I wouldn’t presume that someone would copy it either. The internet poses a diffrent issue for me I find that I’ll be mulling around an idea and doing some sketches and research only to stumble accross a blog or site with an artist doing something very similar!
It always sort of puts me off continuing. For example I just saw here for the first time tonight the work of that artist who make the articulated paper dolls. I have been doing something similer and now it feels pointless.
Do you ever have this issue and if so how do you deal with it?
Take care and good luck with your work!
Willow
