“I want to go to there”

Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany by Luiz Pires

There are so many places I want to see, I’ve been browsing and bookmarking and basically putting together travel porn (oh dear, that phrase isn’t going to be good for my blog search results is it). I’m going to Nice in may and maybe Davos in the summer, so that should satisfy me for the year. If I had unlimited funds I’d do a leisurely Trans Siberian Railway route through Russia and then travel around China and Japan. Where would you go?

Neuschwanstein is a 30 minute hike up a mountain (which turns out to be the best part), then a 10 minute tour that cost way more than what it is worth.

  20. Kalei says:

My husband and I went to Füssen to see the famous Neuschwanstein Castle. We went in the winter time and it’s absolutely breath taking. The small town of Füssen is very quaint. We would love to go back but in the Spring/Summer time. Another nice castle to see that we visited last December is Hohensalzburg Castle in Salzburg, Austria. It’s a 2 hour train ride from Munich, Germany. About the same amount of time as going to Füssen.

  21. All of those photos are gorgeous.

I was in Bali and Thailand this summer. I’m heading for China, and possibly Japan (depends on money) this summer.

  22. afcles says:

  28. Josh says:

the sad thing about neuschwanstein is that its not finished, the outside is gorgeous and what not, at least from that side, when you get up to the main gate area the white stone switches to a reddish brick which still looks nice, but the king was going crazy and ran out of money so the brick was cheaper, and a lot of the inside remains unfinished. They tour you through rooms which again are extravagant and gorgeous but they show you about all that was ever finished.

  29. James says:

Amazing photos! Wish I was there to take them!

  30. Daphne says:

Just came back from a three-week trip to Europe.

Neuschwanstein was beautiful; the long climb uphill was well worth it. It was amazing to see the structure after which the Disney castle was patterned.

Upon approaching Santorini from mainland via flying catamaran, I initially thought the mountains were snowcapped, but lo and behold, they were the white-washed houses that lined the island. Breathtaking!

  31. Laura says:

    OH MY GOD.
“Travel porn” is most definitely an accurate description, you’ve just added five places I want to go too.
I am dying to go to England :|
    And Croatia. And Sweden.

  32. Angel says:

I have visited the place from a first photo and I could say the place is fantastic :)

I am so glad you included a picture of Varanasi! Some places in India are so beautiful. Going on a row on the Ganges has been called the most wonderful ride in one’s life!

    Thanks for the pics!

  35. Pk says:

if you do come down to india, drop me a mail. we could discuss your travel plans. The internet and even agents don’t usually talk about a lot of places really WORTH visiting.

  36. I also want to go there; because such a excellent places!

Wow, you sound like a dream of a man, your interests are wonderful, and what appeals to you is equally wonderful. Thank you for sharing these pictures with us.

  38. leticia says:

I apologize, I just realized that for some reason I assumed you are a man and then I saw the spelling of your name, all that I said in my comment at 7:11 remains, you have beautiful taste.

  39. JOE says:

Wadi Qelt is in Israel, not any Palestinian territory. If the palestinians would be given authority over Wadi Qelt they would ruin the monastery as they are doing with every other archeological site they can!

    kris atomic says,

    According to wikipedia:
St. George Orthodox Monastery is located in Wadi Qelt, in the eastern West Bank, in the Palestinian territories.

You’re welcome to your opinions, but the caption is accurate.

  40. bridie says:

Those photos are all very well and all!……and I know you mean well…. but they are all from different people, not by you!

Well yes, each one clearly says who it’s by directly underneath! And some of my photos are linked at the bottom :)

  41. arora says:

I noticed the photo’s of Iceland right away (particularly the one of the glacier and houses).. I’m moved from Iceland when I was really young, but I try to visit every once in a while. It’s so beautiful!

I’m dying to go to Iceland, it’s the number 1 place I want to go next! It’s just so expensive :(

  42. I know it sounds crazy but this reminded me of Abraham Lincoln’s: “Everybody likes a compliment,” and these photos deserve a compliment for each one of them. There are so much beauty in this world…

  43. Been to the St. George Orthodox monstary (which is in Palestine not Israel as one commented) and it is really nice. It has the best view ive ever seen. I definately recommend it.
Also i am from norway so i havent actually been to honningsvåg but must of norway is like that so i also recommend cold norway :D
