“I want to go to there”

March 6th, 2010

Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany by Luiz Pires

There are so many places I want to see, I’ve been browsing and bookmarking and basically putting together travel porn (oh dear, that phrase isn’t going to be good for my blog search results is it). I’m going to Nice in may and maybe Davos in the summer, so that should satisfy me for the year. If I had unlimited funds I’d do a leisurely Trans Siberian Railway route through Russia and then travel around China and Japan. Where would you go?

Bookmarking this for my own future reference! Was going to pick my favourites, but I think I would love to go to all of them too.

I’d really like to go to Cambodia to the city my mum lived in before the war happened. I can’t remember which city it was now, but I remember her pointing out all the places she used to go to as a child on the Google maps satellite view which was a really cool thing to be able to see.

Really, really, really want to make it to Nepal someday– preferrably soon! I also can’t wait to visit Africa, though I can never decide which part I’d want to visit– probably West. And I’d love it if it was reasonable within my lifetime to visit Iran, as I hear it’s absolutely gorgeous.

Of course, thinking about traveling the world always makes me feel guilty that I’ve barely even touched my own country. I’d definitely like to get more familiar with the U.S. someday, too.

  9. I’ve actually been to Neuschwanstein Castle, and it was one of the most magical experiences of my life.

Tip: Take the horse & buggy up the mountain, the steep incline and long walk is no fun.

Ah! As a Norwegian I am pleased to see you’ve added Norway to the list. Honningsvåg is really beautiful. I do agree with all the other destinations aswell, and I can confirm that Iceland is beautiful. I loved it there.

Right now my dream place would be the Shetland Islands, it looks so magical there.

I will so meet you in Edinburgh (I’ve been and it was so amazing, I dream of going back to spend more time there before anywhere else) and Greece makes my brain go all sparkly inside. Your travel porn was a total kick in the butt to get the fuck out of the house more at least haha.

wow. wowowowowow. Guess I’ll be adding Fribourg and Oia to MY travel list too. The squished groupings of houses always appeal to me.

Also, I can tell you that Neuschwanstein is amazing even when it’s not all picture-book snowy outside.

I’ve always wanted to go to Japan and Russia, and since I can remember Egypt because I’m obsessed with the egyptians but everyone I know who has been has come back dreadfully ill. When I was younger we went to Canada but only did the cities and major touristy things, I’d like to go back and see the more rural parts.

    LOVE the travel porn.

Recognised the Prague and Santorini photos instantly – I have slightly less impressive versions of them both. The Prague one I’m sure is taken from the castle, looking down onto the roofs (rooves?) – just out of shot is a little veranda where people always seem to be having barbeques and dancing to reggae, totally surreal in wintery Prague but an awesome place.

I’m with you on the Trans-Siberian railway, that’s something I’ve always wanted to do… sigh.

Love you blog btw – you’re v talented.
