We walked around Old Arbat which was just a million identical souvenir shops and not much else and New Arbat which is just a million huge shops selling perfume and electronics. It was certainly an impressively large street though! We had some Georgian food for lunch and flagged down a creaky Lada to take us to the Museum Of Applied, Decorative And Folk Art. I nearly had a stroke when the driver was simultaneously opening his window, changing the radio station and driving with his knees around a corner at great speed. Never mind the whole sitting in the private car of a total stranger aspect. My mum basically lolled at me the whole way, it’s just what you do in Moscow, but in future I’m taking the Metro!

what kind of camera do you use?

It’s easy! I just make two plaits on the sides of my head, twist them up and pin them with a million bobby pins! :)

I quite enjoy your blog, particularly your travel photos. I always find it interesting to see different parts of the world through someone else’s eyes, especially someone who takes good pictures. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

The picture of the death trap is so funny: my sister has travelled to Moscow a lot and always has funny stories to tell me about taxi drivers (anyone who wants to pick you up really – as you said) and being arrested by the police for crossing the street in the wrong place (and released only against a few roubles) …
The portrait of you is so beautiful, so natural and fresh!

I love your hair like that. I want to try but I dont know if my hair is long enough yet haha.
Did you get your name necklace online?

Thank you! You might be able to do a modified version, where you plait it into a crown without putting it in plaits first? If you know what I mean?
My name necklace was made by a friend of my mother’s in Milan, so I’m afraid not. x

My hair is a little below my shoulders and my modified version is to make braids on each side of my head and criscross them, you get about the same effect.
reply
kris atomic says,
July 12th, 2008 @ 8:38 pm
I do that too! Sometimes I crisscross, sometimes I do one in front of the other so it’s a double braid-crown.

I love your glasses, where are they from?
