Under the hammer

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

I won’t beat around the bush, I’m selling a load of stuff here on ebay so do have a look! At the end of every season, I always feel the urge to get rid of everything I own and start anew, so there’ll be more to come.

I’ve also had a few requests for ebay tips, so I’m putting together a post to spill all my saucy selling secrets. Is there anything in particular you guys would like to know? Any problems or issues you’ve come up against, or just a general overview? Let me know and I’ll try to help!

Can’t close my wardrobe doors

So I’ve put a bunch of stuff on ebay, ending in a day or so. More coming this week! I’m in full unclutter mode at the moment.

A new version of an older illustration on postcards for Fred Flare and fredflare.com.

an interview with me about life post-graduation in the current issue of Blanket magazine.

and I’m selling my old issues of Lula and a bunch of other lovely stuff on ebay.
There’s so much more I want to blab about, but nothing I’m allowed to show yet! Soon, promise.

Keeping busy and decluttering

Monday, August 25th, 2008

It’s been a slow week on the blog since I’ve done nothing productive or aesthetically pleasing. I have spent all my time selling stuff on ebay though – taking photos, writing descriptions, answering questions. Now my auctions are ending and I have to start wrapping stuff and queuing for hours at the post office. It all takes me forever! I don’t know how professional ebay sellers do it. If any of you are interested, here is my ebay link (all sizes are UK not US btw). I’m completely sick of everything I own so I’m going to put up lots more stuff in the coming week. I’m also selling some things for my mum (who I get my hoarding tendencies from).

For those that asked about the plates and prints – I’m going to sell them on my etsy shop in a week or so. I’m still organising a few things, ordering prints and faffing about with plates in the oven. Soon though!

It’s a bow tie bonanza

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

“Learning how to tie a bow tie really well is the first important step in life” said Oscar Wilde. I don’t actually possess this skill, so it’s lucky that the bow tie I bought last week comes ready tied. It’s a 3.1 Phillip Lim bow tie belt that I got via ebay and I’m completely obsessed with it. I’m wearing this baby with everything.

More conventional (that is, neck residing) bow ties were all over the winter collections, look:

(D&G, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Roberto Cavalli, D&G)

(3.1 Phillip Lim, Luella, Moschino, VPL)

and finally, some excellent bow tie flickr photos (click on image for links to originals).
I told you I’m obsessed!

A bit chintzy

I love doilies. My grandma’s house is covered in them, there’s at least one on every single flat surface. It’s quite overwhelming for the uninitiated.
So I bought lots of handmade vintage doilies and handkerchiefs on ebay for fun embroidery purposes. I’m not quite sure what I’ll be doing with them all yet, but they’ll come in handy one day.

You can also see the badges I made from this image which came out pretty cute. I’m going to put them up on etsy in a couple of days.

Excellent ebay find

Two 1950s “strip” books I bought on a whim because they were so cheap (and I always like to hoard books). They were only about £5 all together, not bad at all. They do smell very strongly of pipe tobacco though.
